October 5th, 2011Backups. You SHOULD do them, but do you?
September 30th, 2011I have a friend that I play ball with that had his hard drive crash. I went over and looked at it, heard the click of death, and knew I wasn’t going to be much help. He wound up sending his drive off for recovery to the tune of $750. That’s why it’s important to backup your hard drive. Whether you use one of the online backup tools like Carbonite, or have a USB drive by your machine and use SyncBack to back it up, you really should just do it.
Acrobat Reader won’t open?? Kill it!
June 22nd, 2010If Adobe Acrobt reader will not open and you have used it before on your machine,

there is a good chance there is still a process running that will not allow Acrobat to open correctly or at all. Go to your task manager, and take a look at the processes tab. It is where I go to immediately when I am having a program misbehave. Be careful what you kill, but in this case Acrobat is pretty obvious. Kill the process and try reloading Acrobat. I bet it works now…..

How to: Removing the hard drive from a unibody Macbook Pro
June 9th, 2010It’s really a pretty simple task to remove the hard drive from a unibody style Macbook Pro. There are screws on underside you need to remove, then the entire piece comes off, as you can see in the photos. The screws, 10 of then, are pretty obvious as you can see.
There are three longer screws, they go in the three upper right holes (upper right if the drive is in the lower left)
Only two more screws to remove, then the hard drive will pop right out. Remember to disconnect the hard drive cable.
Note: If this machine looks beat up, it is. It actually got left on top of a vehicle, fell off in the road, and got ran over. The screen and track-pad are busted, but it booted enough that the person of found it started it up in the road to get the contact info for the owner. The hard drive, battery, motherboard, etc were all in good shape.
